The Law of Attraction

We are magnets. Our attitude, thoughts and actions determine what we attract. Like attracts like.

The Law of Attraction, has been extensively documented in recent years but I rarely come across people who fully realise, or vocalise, the potential impact that the Law of Attraction has on their daily life.

In essence, all attractions are based on energy, vibrations, chemistry, or whatever you want to call it. Both Einstein and Edison are credited with having said, “The brain is a transmitter and receiver of vibrational energy.”  In fact, every cell of the human body transmits energy and our brains transmits a frequency to other brains instantly. And so it follows that whatever frequency we emit, that same frequency is pulled towards us.

I know I’m not alone saying I struggled in my twenties and into my thirties with depression and a resulting lack of self-confidence. After leaving school as a ‘straight A’ student I almost left my place at a top UK university after my 2nd year because I was failing exams and had little to no faith in myself. I felt lost, insecure and a persistent unhappiness hanging over me. Essentially I was on a low frequency, drawing negativity towards myself.

Conversely, and this is the moral I hope to impart here, people who love and value themselves, vibrate on a high frequency and tend to induce a positive response from others and their surroundings.

I have since been more blessed than I can convey to meet my husband who, I am fortunate to say, operates on an infinitely high frequency. Being extremely emotionally intelligent, he has enlightened me in so many ways, not least to value myself and my abilities. He also introduced me to what I consider to be one of the original self-help books, ‘Being Happy’ by Andrew Matthews (originally published in 1988 and a new edition came out in 2015). In a nutshell, it’s about understanding yourself as well as universal laws of personal growth and prosperity. Essentially, the better you treat yourself, the better others, and the universe as a whole, will treat you. It also reinforces the importance of personal goal setting and commitment to those goals: You get back what you put in.

So, in the spirit of ‘being happy’, here are some tips:

  1. Be aware of the energy you’re emitting

  2. Reframe the tone of your thoughts if needed

  3. Cut off negative influences

  4. Surround yourself with positive and successful go-getters

  5. Embrace compassion and kindness - a little unexpected gesture is all it takes

  6. Practice gratitude - thinking of 3 things you’re grateful for first thing in the morning gets the day off on a positive footing

  7. Find your inner strength and project it

  8. Align your current self with your future self
